The Universe Gives Us What We Need...Part 2

The technician—a lovely woman named Sherry—helps me step onto the box and position my foot for the X-ray. It’s awkward, and I’m a little nervous. But Sherry clearly knows exactly what she’s doing, and I feel myself begin to relax.

It’s the first time I’ve put my full weight on my foot since January 2nd.

Ouch.

Twenty minutes later, in another room, the PA—another very lovely woman, Olivia—is gently poking and prodding my foot and ankle. She tells me my X-rays look great, my ankle is stable, and that I’m now ready to begin the real healing process.

Woohoo!

So the Universe gives me a break (ha ha…pun fully intended), and I do not need surgery.

Woohoo!

Thank you.

But as I mentioned in Part 1, it seems the Universe has a plan for me with this broken ankle.

A message.

Something important.

Something I really need to hear.

And I’ve been listening.

Remaining still.

Paying attention.

Here’s what I’ve heard—and learned—so far:

  • Sometimes we need to slow down and remain still.

  • Stillness reveals truths we miss when we rush.

  • Some lessons arrive only when life forces us to pause.

  • It’s OK to ask for help.

  • Receiving gratefully is just as important as giving generously.

  • Being cared for can be an act of courage - it creates deep connection.

  • Pain isn't the enemy - it's information.

  • Healing only happens on its own timeline.

  • Keep calm, be patient, and trust the process.
